USAA Removes Foreign Transaction Fees from All its Credit Cards

USAA Credit CardsThis week, USAA announced it has eliminated foreign transaction fees on all its credit cards. The move comes as a result of its decision, announced last year, to transition all its Mastercard credit cards to Visa cards. At the time, USAA said it would only be removing the fees on its Visa credit cards, but it has since opted to eliminate the fees on its MasterCard and American Express credit cards as well.

The downside of the switch from Mastercard to Visa is some temporary inconvenience–existing Mastercard cardholders will receive new Visa cards with new credit card numbers and PINs, requiring them to update accounts with merchants and service providers who regularly bill their card. This switch will continue to take place throughout 2016.

Previously, USAA’s credit cards charged a 1% foreign transaction fee, which was only waived if you were a member of the military on active duty.

PCMCU MasterCard Platinum Rewards Card – 5% Cash Back on All Purchases

5 Percent Cash BackWhat if I told you there was a credit card that paid 5% cash back on everything, with no category restrictions and no fees? And that the 5% cash back was not just a teaser intro rate, good for only a few months? Sounds a little too good to be true, right? Such a card would be extremely popular and for good reason. Cards that do offer the exalted tier of 5% cash back almost always restrict that level of bonus rewards to specific categories, and often only during certain periods of the year. (Examples are the rotating quarterly bonus cards such as Chase Freedom and Discover it.)

The surprising news is that such a 5% card does exist, though it also comes with a number of restrictions which make only a lucky few able to actually take advantage of it.
