When you apply for the Shell Platinum Mastercard between now and December 31, 2006, you’ll receive triple rebates on all your purchases for the first 60 days. That means that you’ll earn 15% rebates on Shell gasoline, 15% on the first $100 in daily purchases at Jiffy Lube and 3% everywhere else.
After the introductory period, you’ll receive a 5% rebate on Shell gas, 5% rebate on the first $100 in daily purchases at Jiffy Lube and 1% rebate on all other purchases. Your rebates are good towards future Shell purchases made on your card.
There is a $20 annual fee which is waived the first year and subsequent years in which you make at least 9 purchases.
You can apply for the card here.
To help promote their new credit card, Home Depot is teaming with MasterCard to hold a $100,000 sweepstakes. Every time you use a MasterCard to make a purchase at a Home Depot, EXPO® Design Center, or Home Depot® Landscape Supply location in the U.S. between September 7 – October 31, 2006, you’ll be automatically entered. You’ll receive two entries if you make the purchase with the new Home Depot Rewards MasterCard card or Home Depot Business Rewards MasterCard card.
You can get a pretty fancy kitchen for $100,000. Fortunately you receive your winnings in the form of a check, in case your kitchen doesn’t need $100,000 of upgrades.
More information can be found at http://www.homedepot.com/mastercard.
In September and October, Mastercard is holding a monthly sweepstakes where each winner will receive $50,000. You’re automatically entered to win each time you use your MasterCard BusinessCard® card or your Debit MasterCard BusinessCard® card. You’ll receive two entries every time you make a purchase at Staples or make a PayPass purchase.
Between now and August 31, 2006, every time you use your MasterCard, you’ll receive an entry into a sweepstakes to win 500 round-trip plane tickets. Fortunately, you don’t have to do all the flying yourself–should you win, these plane tickets can be also be shared with friends and family.
In addition, you’ll receive an additional entry if you use one of these airline partner cards. You’ll also earn an extra entry when you use your MasterCard to book a flight with any of the listed airlines. You can earn up to 3 entries per transaction.

A card with a 20% rebate is bound to attract some attention. Before you rush out and get one, though, you should be aware of the details. According to CardTrak, CITGO and CitiBank are teaming up to offer a new gas rebate card that is launching on August 1st. During the first 60 days, you’ll receive a 20% rebate on CITGO purchases; after the introductory period is over, you’ll receive a 4% rebate. The fine print includes:
The 20% rebate offer is part of the 90-day launch period which ends October 31st. Once the launch promotion ends, cardholders earn 4% on CITGO purchases and up to 1% on other qualified purchases. Cardholders may earn up to $50 in rebates each month. All rebates are automatically credited on the cardholder’s statement against future CITGO purchases made with the card.
The limitation of $50 in monthly rebates obviously limits the maximum reward you can earn during the introductory period to $100, so you can think of this as a signup bonus of something less than $100. After the introductory period, there are better paying gas rebate alternatives.
I didn’t see anything on either CITGO’s or Citi’s web site about this card yet, but I would expect that to change as the launch date of August 1 nears.
Every time between now and May 31, when you sign using your Debit MasterCard, you’ll be automatically entered in a sweepstakes to receive $1,000/month for the next ten years. If you use your Debit MasterCard PayPass, you’ll receive double entries for each eligible purchase. Note that PIN-based and international transactions are not eligible.
