Discover’s popular “Turn Receipts into Rewards” program is resurfacing again this holiday season and it’s bigger than ever. From November 1, 2008 through January 4, 2009, you’ll receive a $20 Discover gift card for every $200 in spending on your Discover Card at participating malls while supplies last. (Gift cards are valid for use anywhere that Discover is accepted.) This time, over 160 malls nationwide will be participating, up from the 45 that participated in the fall version of the program.

According to JD Power and Associates 2008 Credit Card Satisfaction Study, American Express was rated the highest among credit card issuers for overall customer satisfaction. The poll of more than 7,600 credit card users found that Amex performed well across all five metrics that JD Power measured: interaction, billing and payment process, fees and rates, reward programs and benefits and services.

From August 1 through September 7, 2008, Discover card holders will be able to earn a $10 Discover gift card for every $100 they spend using their Discover Card at any of 45 participating shopping malls nationwide. Earning the gift cards is quite simple–just shop at a participating mall with your Discover Card, then present your original receipts to customer service by September 7, 2008. There is a limit of 5 gift cards that can be earned per account during the promo period and supplies may be limited.

ShopDiscover is Discover’s loyalty program that rewards members with cash back rebates for shopping online through its portal. It’s similar to Ebates, FatCash or uPromise–when you visit a participating merchant through ShopDiscover’s links and make a purchase, you’ll earn a percentage of your spend. What is somewhat surprising is that, according to SD, Discover has increased the cash back it is offering so that it is now higher than competing websites for many popular merchants.

In an effort to increase circulation of its dollar coins, the US Mint is offering free standard shipping on orders of its Presidential $1 Coins. Customers may order up to 500 of each $1 Presidential Coin and orders may be placed with any major credit card, including Visa, Mastercard, Discover or American Express. To spell out the obvious, this is an opportunity is the ability to purchase a cash equivalent on your credit card at cost, thus earning points or miles for “free.”
Discover is offering a $100 signup bonus on its Discover Business Card when you apply now. The card also currently offers a 0% intro APR on both purchases and balance transfers for 12 months with a balance transfer fee of 3% (min $5, max $75).
Unfortunately, the utility of the card’s most unique feature, “PurchaseChecks”, has almost completely vanished. PurchaseChecks, which allow you to write checks to merchants that don’t accept credit cards, are no longer subject to the promotional interest rate, and do not have a grace period.
Sign up for a Discover More card by July 7, 2008 and receive a $100 cash back bonus after making $500 in purchases in the first three months. The deal also offers a 3.9% APR on balance transfers until January 2012, but carries a 3% balance transfer fee with no cap.
