The Deadline for EMV Credit Cards Has Arrived: What Does It Mean?

Secure Chip Credit CardToday marks the official deadline when chip-enabled credit cards are to become the industry standard. Yet, according to a new survey from ACI Worldwide, 59% of consumers have not received their new, chip-enabled credit cards and 67% of credit card users have yet to receive information about the new chip based credit cards. Almost as concerning is that only a third (32%) of those who have received their EMV cards are aware that the US is moving to EMV, with the majority not knowing the real reason they received a new card.

Small Business Saturday to No Longer Offer Statement Credits

Small Business Saturday 2015Alas, but all good things come eventually come to an end. Small Business Saturday, a holiday created by American Express back in 2010 to promote the patronage of brick and mortar businesses that are small and local, has traditionally incentivized shoppers by giving statement credits when they used their American Express card at a small business on the holiday. The credits ranged from $10 to $25 to three $10 credits per card with minimal spending requirements.

This year, however, it appears that American Express is removing the statement credit offer for cardholders.
